Motto: Spirit of victory
The department of Applied Sciences covers the subject areas of physics, chemistry Mathematics, Bio-Technology and Humanities and assists other departments in covering the courses in the aforesaid areas. The department is actively engaged in conducting professional advancement programs.
For the improvement of communication skills of the students, a language laboratory has been set up. The laboratory has 20 user setups, which includes computer systems, head phones & latest software.
In the Basic Electronics Engineering Lab, the first year students are trained to handle the basic equipments/instruments including Signal Generators, Cathode Ray Oscilloscope and Digital Multimeter. Fundamental experiments in Analog and Digital Electronics are offered. The basic purpose is to understand the Importance of Learning by doing, Impact of Electronics in the modern world, Need to understand Basic principles of electronics. Components and their features: Passive: Resistors, Capacitors, inductors, Semiconductor Diodes, Different types of these components and their applications etc. Active Components: Rectifier Diode, zener diode, Transistors. Brief introduction and simple applications.
Integrated Circuit Operational Amplifier: Introduction to ICs, Operational amplifiers, Op Amp characteristics, Feed-back, Mathematical operations, summing, differential, Integrating amplifiers. Digital Integrated Circuits: introduction to all logic gates & implementation of applications like Half adder, full adder etc. Hardware: CRO, signal generator, single power supply, dual power supply, Digital IC trainer kit, basic electronics experiment kits. Utilization of Laboratory: Sem-I- F.E. Basic Electronics Engg .Sem-II- F.E. Basic Electronics Engg.
In the Electrical Technology Lab, the first year students study various type of meters, verify KCL and KVL, verify various theorems like Thevenins theorem, Maximum Power Transfer theorem, Superposition theorems. This lab helps students in understanding frequency response of a series as well as parallel R-L-C circuit and determine resonant frequency& Q- factor for various Values of R,L,C. In this lab students find inductance of coil without core and with U &I shape iron core also measure power and power factor in a 3-phase system by two wattmeter method and perform polarity test and find turn ratio of single phase transformer.
Learning is not complete without hands on experience. Fully equipped, safe and modern technical labs and workshops are provided with in the campus for imparting practical training to the learner. The central workshop consists of various shops for the practice of fitting, carpentry, smithy, forging, welding and foundry. The workshop has lathes, drilling machine, supervision of the competent faculty assisted by experienced technicians who not only train students but also ensure them their safety.
In our campus, students learn about three workshops:
GRIMT have a wonderful group of carpentry tutors who are each respected craftspeople, teaching the same classic woodwork skills in their own style, and share their passion for woodcraft in a relaxing and inspiring manner.
During each of our practical workshops we introduce learners to basic hand tool skills so you can discover the joy of working with beautifully made chisels, saws, planes, spoke-shaves and hand routers..
Through the process of making your own project during each workshop, you will learn a classic set of techniques. These include constructing joints, dovetails and simple frames, which can then be used to build further projects at home such as bookcases, cupboards or tables. All personal protection, use of tools and materials are included.
At machine shop machining is done. In a machine shop, students learn how to use machine tools and cutting tools to make parts, usually of metal or plastic (but sometimes of other materials such as glass or wood).
The production at this workshop consist of cutting, shaping, drilling, finishing, and other processes. The machine tools available at this workshop in GRIMT college include metal lathes, milling machines, machining centers, multitasking machines, drill presses, or grinding machines, many controlled with CNC. Other processes, such as heat treating, electroplating, or painting of the parts before or after machining, are often done in a separate facility. Training and experience of students in a machine shop will be both be scarce and valuable.
Students Deal with Workshop Machines like.......
Welding is a fabrication or sculptural process that joins materials, usually metals or thermoplastics, by causing fusion, which is distinct from lower temperature metal-joining techniques such as brazing and soldering, which do not melt the base metal. In addition to melting the base metal, a filler material is typically added to the joint to form a pool of molten material (the weld pool) that cools to form a joint that is usually stronger than the base material. Pressure may also be used in conjunction with heat, or by itself, to produce a weld.
