Carpentry Workshop

GRIMT have a wonderful group of carpentry tutors who are each respected craftspeople, teaching the same classic woodwork skills in their own style, and share their passion for woodcraft in a relaxing and inspiring manner.

During each of our practical workshops we introduce learners to basic hand tool skills so you can discover the joy of working with beautifully made chisels, saws, planes, spoke-shaves and hand routers..

Through the process of making your own project during each workshop, you will learn a classic set of techniques. These include constructing joints, dovetails and simple frames, which can then be used to build further projects at home such as bookcases, cupboards or tables. All personal protection, use of tools and materials are included.

Machine Workshop

At machine shop machining is done. In a machine shop, students learn how to use machine tools and cutting tools to make parts, usually of metal or plastic (but sometimes of other materials such as glass or wood).

The production at this workshop consist of cutting, shaping, drilling, finishing, and other processes. The machine tools available at this workshop in GRIMT college include metal lathes, milling machines, machining centers, multitasking machines, drill presses, or grinding machines, many controlled with CNC. Other processes, such as heat treating, electroplating, or painting of the parts before or after machining, are often done in a separate facility. Training and experience of students in a machine shop will be both be scarce and valuable.

Students Deal with Workshop Machines like.......

  • Lathe Machine
  • Milling Machine
  • Drilling Machine
  • Shearing Machine
  • Shaping Machine
Welding Workshop

Welding is a fabrication or sculptural process that joins materials, usually metals or thermoplastics, by causing fusion, which is distinct from lower temperature metal-joining techniques such as brazing and soldering, which do not melt the base metal. In addition to melting the base metal, a filler material is typically added to the joint to form a pool of molten material (the weld pool) that cools to form a joint that is usually stronger than the base material. Pressure may also be used in conjunction with heat, or by itself, to produce a weld.
